PPF Guidelines and Recommendations
PPF Guidelines and Recommendations
PPF is calculated as the Horizontal Pixels of the image divided by the FoV Width.
e.g. If you have a 1080p camera monitoring a 10 foot wide area, you would take 1920 divided buy 10, and you would get the answer of 192 PPF.
For medium quality, a PPF between 25 and 60 is recommended. For High quality, including the ability to identify people and read license plates, a PPF between 60 and 180 is ideal.
There are some variables to these recommendations such as uneven or poor lighting, increased compression and image quality, lens quality, angle of view, and special applications.
